Under limited supervision, performs a variety of supervisory and administrative tasks in monitoring and assisting with the programs for Support Services for Students, including School Nurses, Guidance Counselors, and Social Workers. This employee will provide leadership and direction for employees, evaluate and plan improvements for programs that support students through these service providers. This employee will work with Safe and Drug Free Schools, seeking support and services for areas of concern for student welfare, including programs to provide proactive solutions to bullying. This employee will work with outside agencies to provide needed support both to students in traditional school programs and to those served in any alternative learning programs. This employee will also serve as the Homeless Liaison for Calhoun County Schools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides direction, consultation and supervision to the following employees: School Nurses, School Social Workers, School Counselors. 2. In consultation with district and school administration, develop, review and revise Student Code of Conduct. 3. Direct special education programs and personnel. 4. Coordinates the functions of the District’s Hearing Committee, Tribunal, and Alternative School Program. 5. Facilitates meetings with School Nurses, School Social Workers, School Counselors. 6. Updates and disseminates policies related to areas of student services. 7. Completes any required state reports. 8. Plans, develops and implements standards, policies, and procedures related to Student Success Program. Develops short- and long-range goals for the program, monitors progress and makes recommendations for change. 9. Responds to calls and correspondence regarding programs and services offered.
10. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets for all program areas. 11. Attends IEP meeting when needed. 12. Reviews IEP goals and oversees the implementation of programs for students with IEPs and 504 plans. 13. Sets staffing levels for school special education programs for the purpose of providing services with fiscal efficiency. 14. Collaborates effectively with District staff, families, special education teachers, and the community for the purpose of planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating educational services and/or programs. 15. Keeps abreast of community services and resources; develops partnerships with parents, businesses/organizations, and other agencies in order to build awareness, develop support, and share resources. 16. Develops proposals, new programs, budgets and grants for the purpose of meeting the District’s Strategic Plan and goals. 17. Evaluates District and school Special Education programs and monitors the implementation of special education and compliance with regulations in each location for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives within area of responsibility. 18. Communicates information on programs, services, and regulations to school personnel, parents, the Board and other districts for the purpose of understanding of the programs. 19. Directs the Medicaid Administrative Claiming process and direct billing of Medicaid-eligible education services provided by the district, for the purpose of gaining fiscal resources. 20. Supervises the training of special education instructional staff for the purpose of assuring well- trained personnel. 21. Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding developing special education issues, changes in the laws and case law, and educational methods of educating students with disabilities, for the purpose of managing an excellent special education program. Incorporates policies and procedures in accordance with laws and regulations. Ensures that all practices in the district are legal and ethical for each student/family so that each child has the opportunity to achieve at a high level and be prepared for post-secondary success. 22. All other duties as assigned.
Term of Employment: 235 Days
Master’s Degree, Ed.S, Ed.D, PhD Minimum of 5 years administrative experience. Successful experience in leadership and student services preferred. Valid SC Administrator License.
