PowerSchool/Student Data Management
Department: Technology Reports To: Director of Technology GENERAL SUMMARY The PowerSchool/Student Data Management position enters specific data into the student information system and other supporting systems to ensure proper and accurate reporting of various data to meet school, district, state, and federal requirements. The Student Data Management position also manages the district’s student information database, runs queries to extract information, coordinate data reporting to the State Department of Education (SDE) and trains/supports users, working closely with all data entry users. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ? Set up, maintain, and monitor security access, system settings, and user access to the student information system. Handle yearly processes, e.g. set up of new school year, roll over, close out school year, and coordinate with other staff to complete projects/work orders efficiently. Provide assistance in all areas of student information, attendance, grade reporting, registration and scheduling, discipline reporting, test reporting, and enrolling and withdrawing of students. Work directly with school data managers in support of the electronic gradebook system, including training, program analysis, and installation. Establish protocols for data entry and system usage and document in a user/procedures manual
Conduct advanced searches and queries and support special requests from school, district, state, and federal levels. Collect and complete the required data for the state reports, prepare all administrative reports, and conduct all SDE uploads Provide support for all academic reports, including progress reports, report cards, regular academic progress updates ? Recommend and implement system improvements Train and orient new users and support all users, establishing needs and monitoring usage Ensure accuracy of data and troubleshoot problems with the database, data validation errors Troubleshoot operational and software problems, determine the cause of error or stoppage, apply corrective techniques, or obtain support from software manufacturers Schedules, coordinates, or applies all updates, patches, fixes, restarts, etc. to the student information system Supports Ident-A-Kid systems in the district. Supports and troubleshoots all supported PowerSchool Plug-ins including Level Data connections, ABE, eCollect, online registration, etc. Concentration on specific times of the year; new school year start-up, end-of-the-year rollover, and 45, 90, 135, and 180 reporting periods. Communicates with all sources of information pertaining to the student information system and takes the appropriate actions or relays the information to the appropriate users All other duties as prescribed by the Director of Technology
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE It is preferred all candidates for the PowerSchool/Student Data Management position should have a Bachelor’s Degree and three-plus years of direct, hands-on experience with enrollment and student information systems, including extensive working knowledge of PowerSchool/PowerTeacher. Additionally, the Student Data Management position must possess exceptional quantitative analytical skills and detail-oriented work habits, strong organization skills; solid verbal, written, and graphical communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team and to support various stakeholders. Expert knowledge of Excel, and/or other data analysis software, as well as complementary software and Microsoft Word platform, is a must. Ability to integrate third-party applications and databases with mission-critical applications, preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply simple understanding to carry out detailed but basic written and/or oral instructions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
