JOB PURPOSE/REASON:
To direct and supervise all aspects of every Nutrition Services Program across the District ( National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, Mid Morning and Afternoon Snack Program, Head Start and EHS Program, Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program, Equipment Grant Program, Training Program ( HACCP and Servsafe), USDA Supper Program, Summer Meals Program, and USDA Commodities Program).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
• Four plus years experience supervising large staff • Required to perform calculations to include fractions, ratios, and basic math • Planned and organized large food service programs • Purchased and procured food and supplies from developing a bid to receiving product • Developed and cost out recipes • Staff Training • Developed and effectively carried out a budget • Problem solving using data • Operate a computer and office equipment • Scheduling a significant number of activities, meetings, and events • Gathered, collated, and evaluated data • Flexibility to shift priorities • Experience working with individuals, groups, state and local agencies • Worked under limited supervision using standardized practices • Grant experience • Knowledge of Civil Rights compliance
1. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes allocation of staff and job load, training and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel action. 2. Analyzes, monitors, and controls expenditure; develops and manages an annual budget operating budget for multiple schools and programs. 3. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of all policies, objectives, short and long-term planning and goal setting. 4. Ensures compliance with all USDA, State and Local regulations through direct interaction with personnel and the performance of multiple planned reviews. Coordinates with the State Department of Education Nutrition Services division for local reviews and audits. 5. Directs the collection of and collects data to analyze information to ultimately generate reports; analyzes the information to make strategic adjustments and develop additional recommendations to improve the operation and programs. 6. Consults with the Director regarding updates on budgets, expenses, participation goals, long-term equipment replacement, improvements to programs, and other related duties assigned by the Director. - Assists in establishing quality standards for the presentation and service of food. - Assists in implementing a district-wide customer service driven philosophy that focus on value and student satisfaction. - Coordinates and conducts production meetings, safety meetings, in-services, and workshops for the purpose of disseminating information related to the Nutrition Services Operation. - Participates in professional association meetings, workshops, and conferences for the purpose of gathering information that can enhance practices and personal performance. - Establishes measurable financial objectives and goals. - Oversees all programs under the Nutrition Services umbrella for their designated area - CACFP Supper Program, Mid Morning Snack Program, National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Free and Reduced and Direct Certification Program. - Performs labor analysis and cost control studies for the purpose of ensuring the department is running within budget. - Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department. - Prepares a wide variety of documentation for the purpose of providing written support and conveying information (budget reports, meal counts, etc.) - Supervises assigned Nutrition Services personnel (trains, evaluates, etc.) for the purpose of maximizing the productivity of the department. Assists in developing methods for hiring, training, and evaluating personnel that recognizes education, experience, performance, and certification.
- Assists in writing specifications and makes recommendations for the purchase of items (supplies, equipment, paper goods, etc.) Assists in implementing a cost effective procurement system. - Develops short and long term goals for the ongoing sustainability of the Nutrition Services Program that aligns with the philosophies and policies of the Superintendent and the School Board - Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures that ensure environmental responsibility. - Implements management information systems that increase productivity and efficiencies of the Nutrition Services operation. Develops a program to train staff to improve the use of technology on individual school sites. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Director, or Direct Report.
